DEVASTATOR 'Burns The Beast' On New CD
January 12, 2009Northern California's DEVASTATOR has released its new CD, "Burn the Beast". Produced by Juan Urteaga (TESTAMENT, MACHINE HEAD, SADUS) at Trident Sound, the five-song EP marks the extremely active live band's most representative and best-sounding disc to date as previous efforts just haven't lived up to the trio's sheer live firepower.
"'Burn the Beast' is the EP that we have been striving for the last three years," explains drummer Derek Bean. "We think we really hit our mark with the help of Juan and have achieved quite the headbanging production on this one. The songs themselves are a representation of the history of our band as well as a snapshot of where we are headed as musicians at this moment in time."
Crowd favorites like "March of the Wicked" and "Rise of the Undead" appear in revised and even heavier formats, while new material, such as "The Devil's Mark" and the title track, showcase the band's evolving sound as their own brand of lethal ferocity comes to light with lengthier songs featuring more complexity.
Juan Urteaga sums things up better when asked about working with the band: "DEVASTATOR are a tight three-piece unit. They play precision speed metal riffs that combine old-school thrash with a modern death metal feel. It reminded me of great bands such as SLAYER, EXODUS, and early METALLICA. Though their influences shine through clearly, it's their originality and power that really stands out! The five-song demo rips through you like a razor, as track after track takes you on a killing spree of metal mayhem and madness that will leave any die-hard thrash fan salivating for more."
The CD is now available directly from DEVASTATOR via the band's MySpace page.
